The Staff of Apologia, CFAR Hungary

Ministry

The Apologia Research Center (Budapest, Hungary) is an affiliate of the Centers for Apologetics Research (CFAR), an international, interdenominational ministry specializing in evangelical apologetics. It is the 10th year we are honored to work with CFAR. The Lord has blessed us and made us a blessing to many Hungarian-speaking Christians and seekers in Hungary, Romania, and Ukraine.
Apologia is still the only apologetics ministry or institution in Hungary and the only Hungarian apologetics ministry in the world. We have to establish apologetics and cult evangelism in Hungary.
We have a vision for expanding the ministry, but we need more support. We look for support from the States only because most Hungarian churches unfortunately do not support interdenominational ministries. They do enjoy the fruits of the ministry, and there are individual donors — but no churches. Yet we believe that the Church is much bigger, and that God can support this work even from the other side of the world through individuals or churches who can see beyond their geographical and denominational borders.

Staff

Apologia's staff consists of two couples:

Andras Szalai - director, researcher, lecturer, counselor
Andrea Szalai - organizer, PR in Hungary, bookkeeper, counselor

Janos Bratan - researcher, lecturer
Vera Bratan - research assistant, typographer, designer.

Andrea > Andras > Vera > Janos

Andras (41) and Andrea (37) are married since 2005. For ten years Andras developed the ministry alone while working as a language teacher. He serves full-time wiht Apologia for 6 years, studied theology at the Lutheran Seminary (BA) and makes his MA in science of religion. Andrea has an MA in mathematics and chemistry. She has been a Campus Crusade missionary for ten years, now has a job in a language school.

Janos (35) and Vera (35) have been married for 14 years, they have a daughter, Rebeka (13). She serves with Apologia full time for 5 years. Janos still works at a university as a laboratory technician and information technologist.

Andrea and Janos are ready to join the full-time staff of Apologia as soon as they get enough financial support.

Church

The Szalai and Bratan families are longtime members of Calvary Chapel Budapest. Andras is an elder at CC Budapest and teacher at CCBCE (apologetics, systematic theology). Janos teaches Sunday school (ages 9-14) in the Budapest church.

Support

It would be a real blessing if Vera, Janos, and Andrea could be employed by our existing Apologia Foundation. Donations could go to CFAR in the U.S. or directly to our bank account.
